Who we are

Tiny Indie Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an independent game studio based in Hamilton, New Zealand. We also sell official merchandise through this website.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use our website, subscribe to our newsletter or Studio Insider Pack, contact us, or buy merch. We aim to comply with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and, where relevant, overseas privacy laws that apply to visitors and customers outside New Zealand.

Information we collect

  • Email address — when you subscribe to the studio newsletter or claim the Launch Radar insider pack.
  • Contact details and message content — when you email us or use a contact form (name, email, and whatever you write).
  • Order and shipping details — when you buy merch (name, email, shipping address, and order contents). Payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Technical and device data — basic information our hosting provider may log (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) to operate and secure the site.
  • Website analytics — we use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregated stats such as visitor counts, page views, referrers, and general location (for example country). This is privacy-oriented analytics and is not used for advertising.
  • Local browser storage — we may store small amounts of data on your device (for example cart contents, newsletter “already subscribed” state, and Launch Radar progress) so features work between visits. This stays on your device unless you clear site data.

How we use your information

  • Send studio updates, game news, merch drops, and insider-pack related emails you signed up for
  • Respond to enquiries, press, and partnership requests
  • Process and fulfil merch orders, including shipping and order support
  • Operate, secure, and improve the website, including understanding traffic with Cloudflare analytics
  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We only send marketing email to addresses that have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option.

Who we share information with

We use trusted service providers to run the site and fulfil orders. They only receive what they need to provide their service:

  • Cloudflare — website hosting, delivery, and Web Analytics (visitor and page traffic stats)
  • MailerLite — newsletter and insider-pack email list management
  • Stripe — payment processing for merch checkout
  • Printful — print-on-demand manufacturing and shipping of merch orders

These providers may process data outside New Zealand. We choose established providers and expect them to protect personal information under their own privacy and security practices.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which pages are popular. Cloudflare’s analytics is designed to be privacy-friendly and typically does not use cookies for this purpose. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or marketing pixels.

We also use browser local storage for essential site features such as the merch cart and Launch Radar progress. You can clear this data through your browser settings.

If we add advertising tools or other analytics providers later, we will update this policy and, where required, provide additional notice or choices.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law (for example order and payment records for tax and accounting). Newsletter subscribers remain on our list until they unsubscribe or we remove inactive or invalid addresses.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you can ask us to:

  • Confirm whether we hold personal information about you
  • Access that information
  • Correct information that is wrong or incomplete

Email contact@tinyindie.com with your request. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your privacy, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law (such as access, erasure, or restriction). Contact us and we will help where we can.

Children

Our site and merch shop are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it where appropriate.

Merch orders

When you buy merchandise, Stripe processes your payment and Printful manufactures and ships your order. Shipping, returns, and order support details are described on the merch shop page. For privacy questions about an order, email us with your order confirmation details.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
